PNG - One sermon changes a life

While I was in Madang, Papua New Guinea, I got the opportunity to preach. I had prayed for and prepped my sermon and I decided to preach on the fruits of the spirit. I spoke on how we were to live in relationship with God, love others well and live out our lives in faith. It was my first time preaching in the islands and I knew that pastors typically shouted to show their passion and the importance of the message which is different my typical style. I tried my best, but at times I was admittedly more focused on my volume than on what I was saying. After the message we had a meeting with the pastors and went home.

The next day, the pastor called us and asked if his daughter could spend a day with us while we were in town, of course we said “yes!”. Apparently, the pastor’s daughter had heard my sermon and it completely changed her life. This fourteen year old girl quit drinking and hanging out with her friends who pressured her and started hanging out with our YWAM outreach team! I am so thankful that it is not by eloquence of speech that the Holy Spirit moves, it is by obedience to Him to speak the truth!
